01/06/2023 London Spirits Competition 2023 results are out!

Among other title winners like Whiskey of the Year, Distillery of the Year, Spirit of the Year, Non-alcoholic of the Year and more, LSC awards the Best Spirits in Show by Country. 

Over 2000+ spirits brands entered from more than 80 countries, and London Spirits Competition 2023 picked out the Best in Show as per country. All spirits were evaluated based on Quality, Value and Packaging, with maximum attention paid to Quality. 

The 2023 Competition saw 367 entries from Australia as the top entrant country, followed by 303 products from the United Kingdom and 138 from the United States. 695 Gins made Gin the top category entrant followed by Rum and Whiskey. There was a solid growth in participation of Rums showing signs that Rum is expected to grow in 2023.

1) UNITED KINGDOM

Tasting Notes:

A London dry gin with juniper, citrus and spice on the nose and palate with well rounded and rich texture with hints of cardamom and liquorice towards the end.

This bottle also won Spirit of the Year and Gin of the Year 2023.

2) AUSTRALIA

97 Points

Young Henrys Gin and Tonic by Young Henrys Brewing and Distilling Company

Young Henrys Gin and Tonic

Tasting Notes:

A ready-to-drink beverage with a fragrant nose and incredible notes of grapefruit and pomegranate with a hint of bitterness.

This can also win RTD of the Year and Best Spirit of the Year by Quality 2023.

3) JAPAN

96 Points

Ukiyo Japanese Rice Vodka by Kirker Greer Spirits

Tasting Notes:

A Japanese vodka with floral notes of violet on the nose and flavors of grass and hints of chamomile.

This bottle also won Best Spirit of the Year by Packaging and Vodka of the Year 2023.

4) ITALY

Tasting Notes:

A vermouth with sherry notes on the nose, oak, and slight tannin with great mouthfeel body and character and a long-lasting finish.

5) PANAMA

Tasting Notes:

An aged rum with flavors and aromas of cocoa, spice, cinnamon and honey on the nose and palate with a balanced finish and hints of oak.

This bottle also won Rum of the Year 2023.

6) FRANCE

Tasting Notes:

A Cognac with a clean nose with hints of spices and fruits, chocolate and maple and a smooth rounded palate with gentle notes of oak, spices, coffee and baked apricot, medium-long finish with a hint of fresh ripe stone fruit.

This bottle also won Cognac of the Year 2023.

7) USA

Tasting Notes:

An American single malt with flavors and aromas of nuts, almonds, vanilla, chocolate and oak on the nose and palate with a smooth texture and long finish.

This bottle also brought home Whiskey of the Year 2023, and Distillery of the Year 2023 for Virginia Distillery Company.
