Cane Rat Distillery, a pioneering rum distillery nestled in Stoke Mandeville,  Buckinghamshire, proudly clinched a Silver medal at the esteemed 7th London Spirits Competition held on March 20 & 21, 2024.  

This accolade, considered the ultimate seal of approval in the global spirits industry,  solidifies Cane Rat's position as a trailblazer in the UK's craft spirits scene. As one of only a select few distilleries in the UK—and the first in Buckinghamshire—to craft rum entirely in-house from scratch, Cane Rat Distillery embodies the essence of British ingenuity and craftsmanship. 

Established in 2020 amidst the challenges of the pandemic, Cane Rat Distillery's journey has been marked by resilience and determination. Following a successful crowdfunding campaign, the distillery overcame setbacks to commence rum production last year, transforming a converted grain store in Stoke Mandeville into its home base. 

At Cane Rat Distillery, the art of batch processing is revered, with each small-batch spirit crafted to captivate the senses with its unique charm. Fuelled by a passion for experimentation, the distillery meticulously selects a variety of yeasts and explores diverse barrel maturations to create spirits that defy expectations. Every release from  Cane Rat Distillery is a testament to their unwavering commitment to excellence,  inviting enthusiasts on a journey of discovery through a rich tapestry of flavors. 

The winning batch, only the second public release of rum from the distillery, garnered an impressive 87 points in the competition, falling just shy of the coveted Gold medal. To achieve this distinction, Cane Rat Distillery excelled across three key categories: Quality,  Value, and Packaging.

Organized by Beverage Trade  Network, the event serves as a platform to showcase and honor excellence in the spirits industry on a global scale.
