Bars, restaurants and pubs will be forced to push up prices further, as they face soaring food and drink prices, as well as the prospect of an imminent return to a 20% level of VAT, the UK’s trade body UKHospitality has warned.
Flicking through a printed menu or drinks list could soon become a thing of the past thanks to the increasing use of QR codes rapidly adopted by much of the UK on-trade during the Covid pandemic.
After consultation with businesses, and stakeholders, a statutory code of practice is to be developed setting out how tips should be most fairly distributed.
